Cuba Libra/Rum & Coke – Dad, Uncle Peter
& Aunt Linda, Marley
2 ounces dark or amber rum (preferably Mount Gay) Rum on the rocks, pour in Coke, add a squeeze of lime. These are served in Copper Cups in fine establishments as the lime reacts with the Copper and keeps your drink colder, longer.
Great
served among nuts with nuts.
Berry
& Ice Smoothies – Jason Sauve
If you’re ever hot in the
summer, buy some berries, ice & rum, blend it together according to your
taste. Depending on how hot it is you may want to skip the rum, every other
drink. Caution: highly addictive, but you will definitely cool off after the
fourth or fifth one. Jason also used banana’s, ice cream, kalula, and ice cream
cake. I liked the berry ones myself.
4 ounces rum
2 cup fresh berries
(blueberries are great)
1 cup crushed ice.
Add all to a blender an pulse
away. You might have a preference for more ice, less fruit, more rum…
Black/White Russian – May Wong
The first few times I met May
Wong, she had a bottle of Kalula under one arm and a bottle of Vodka in the
other. At the time and ever since she has been generous in sharing it with
those close to her heart. Thank-God.
Black: 1 part vodka, 1 part Kalua , in a short glass, over ice and
stir.
White: 1 part Kalua, three parts milk, cherry, in a short glass, over
ice and stir.
Bombay Sapphire Martini – Jules/Chris P./James
The five questions one should ask
when making a martini…Straight up or on the Rocks? Vodka or Gin? Dry, Extra
Dry? Straight up or on the rocks? Shaken or stirred? Lemon twist or olive? This
would be my response.
Place a few ice cubes in your martini glass to let it cool. In your
martini shaker add 4 or 6 ice cubes, depending in their size. Pour in a shot of
vermouth, shake it around and pour out the vermouth. Depending on how ‘dry’ you
want your martini, the vermouth you want will stick to your cubes. Add three
ounces Bombay Saphire Ginn, shake away and strain into your now empty martini
glass. Garnish with three olives on a tooth-pick.
This drink is a kicker, best enjoyed when you really need or deserve a
drink.
